"This class makes me feel like I am a jock again"

Parkinson’s is a challenging illness, but I don’t have to cope with it alone. Rock Steady Boxing is also challenging, but it’s the best medicine I know for Parkinson’s. Even on days when I don’t feel like it, the Rock Steady group makes me want to go. They are caring, supportive, and inspiring. They welcome you warmly, show you the ropes, and then encourage and inspire you to do your best. We work hard together and laugh a lot, And together we fight this disease. I wish I had known about Rock Steady years ago. I am grateful to have it now.

I'm not a patient, a victim, or a statistic. I am an athlete in a race that I believe can be won!
My Parkinson's was diagnosed over 15 years ago, and I believe that the main reason I am in a slow progression is Rock Steady Boxing. Having a great movement disorder specialist and regulating my prescribed meds certainly make a big impact, but those 3–4 days in the gym are paramount to my overall health and well-being. In the past 9 years I have dropped over 25 lbs (without dieting or weight loss meds), I have become stronger and more flexible, and issues with things like balance and fatigue are targeted with some great exercises. We do so much more than just boxing, and workouts are personally adjusted for varied levels. New research supports that results come best with a vigorous level of exercise. We are not "babied" with light weights and "senior"-focused workouts. We work hard, and the coaches really know their "stuff." A very important added dividend is the fun we have, the laughter we share, and the friendships we make. It's truly a family!

Rock Steady Boxing Winston-Salem is a great place for those with Parkinson's to attend. It gives all a chance to socialize, smile, laugh, share experiences, as well as working hard. Exercise is the key to help deal with PD. The instructors are great and super motivators!
